Accupro
What is it?
A proprietary preparation of the antihypertensive drug, quinapril; used in conjunction with a diuretic or cardiac glycoside. Available as brown tablets (oval, round or triangular according to strength).
Medical Uses
Hypertension and congestive heart failure, especially after other treatments have been tried.
Dosage
In adults only, starts at 2.5mg per day usually increasing to 10 to 20mg per day. The maximum daily dose is 40mg.
Special Care
All elderly patients, impairment of kidney function, haemodialysis, severe congestive heart failure, some types of vascular disease and in patients having anaesthesia.
Avoid Use
Children, pregnant and nursing mothers, some kidney and heart valve diseases.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Potassium-containing supplements, diuretic drugs, NSAIDs, tetracyclines.
Known Side Effects
Numerous including hypotension, abdominal, chest and muscle pains, headache, nausea, dizziness, rhinitis, upper respiratory tract infection and allergic reactions.
