Accuretic

What is it?

An ACE inhibitor and diuretic containing 10mg quinapril and 12.5mg hydrochlorothiazide in pink, oval scored film-coated tablets.

Medical Uses

Hypertension.

Dosage

1 tablet daily (maximum 2). Not recommended for children.

Special Care

Patients with diabetes, kidney or liver disorders, severe congestive heart failure, collagen vascular disease (changes in connective and small blood vessels). Haemodialysis, surgery and anaesthesia. Kidney function, urinary protein and white cell count should be monitored before and during treatment.

Avoid Use

Pregnancy or lactation, anuria.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Potassium supplements, diuretics, tetracyclines, NSAIDs, ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone), tubocurarine and corticosteroids.

Known Side Effects

Coughing, headache, fatigue, dizziness, myalgia, gastrointestinal upset, chest pain, hypotension, chest infections, angioedema (a painless swelling usually on the face), pancreatitis, hyperlipidaemia, kidney disorders.
