Acezide
What is it?
A combined diuretic/ACE inhibitor anti-hypertensive preparation. Contains captopril (50mg) and hydrochlorothiazide (25mg) in a white, scored tablet, code AZE 50/25.
Medical Uses
Mild to moderate hypertension.
Dosage
1 tablet daily (maximum 2) (in patients who have first become accustomed to the two components given in the same amounts separately).
Special Care
Patients with renal disorders or undergoing haemodialysis.
Avoid Use
In children, pregnant and breast feeding mothers, outflow obstruction of the heart, aortic stenosis and renovascular disease.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
NSAIDs, potassium-containing supplements, anti- hypertensives, vasodilatory and immunosuppressant drugs.
Known Side Effects
Protein in urine (proteinuria), rash, loss of sense of taste, fatigue, changes in constitution of the blood and, very unusually, a cough.
