Act-Hib DTP

What is it?

A combined vaccine preparation; triple, inactivated surface antigen combined with aluminium hydroxide and toxoid vaccine. Contains at least 60iu of tetanus toxoid; 30iu diphtheria toxoid; 4iu of killed Bordetella pertussis toxoid, all per 5ml. Also, 10µg per 0.5ml of polysaccharide of Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugated to tetanus protein.

Medical Uses

Active immunisation against tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough and infections caused byH. influenzae type b.

Dosage

For children aged between 2 months and 4 years only: 3 separate 0.5ml injections spaced at intervals at least 1 month apart; delivered intramuscularly or as deep subcutaneous injections.

Special Care

History of epilepsy in recipient's family.

Avoid Use

Other age groups; fever or other acute illness, previous convulsions, neurological problems (including developmental defects), history of brain inflammation or cerebral problem as newborn, adverse reaction to previous injection.

Known Side Effects

Soreness at injection site, fever, crying and irritability, sleepiness, allergic reactions, general malaise, headache, possible neurological effects.
