What is it?

A preparation of vaccine for meningitis containing in excess of 501g of polysaccharides of each of the meningococcal serogroupsA, C, W135 and Y per 0.5ml of solution. Supplied in vials as freeze-dried powder with diluent.

Medical Uses

Immunisation against the above listed types of meningoegccal meningitis. Especially for close contacts of an affected person or those living in or visiting a country where disease is prevalent. Also, when certain specialised conditions apply.

Dosage

People over 2 years of age, 0.5ml given by deep sub-cutaneous injection.

Special Care

Does not give protection to younger children.

Avoid Use

Fever and infection.

Known Side Effects

Soreness and redness at injection site, localised reactions.
