Adgyn Medro

What is it?

A hormonal, progestogen preparation comprising 5mg of Medroxyprogesterone acetate in each white tablet.

Medical Uses

Heavy periods or dysfunctional bleeding, endometriosis (if not severe), (with oestradiol), for hormone replacement therapy, secondary amenorrhoea (absence of periods which have occurred previously), as part of fertility treatment.

Dosage

Women; Bleeding disorder: starting on 16th to 21st day of cycle, 1 to 2 tablets each day for two cycles. Endometriosis: 2 tablets 3 times each day beginning on first day of monthly cycle; continue for 90 days. Hormone replacement therapy: 2 tablets daily for final 14 days of assumed cycle. Secondary amenorrhoea: 1 to 2 tablets each day beginning on assumed 16th to 21st day of cycle; continue treatment for 3 cycles.

Special Care

Women with asthma, diabetes, migraine, epilepsy, previous depression, heart or kidney disease. Possibility of uterine/genital cancer or pregnancy must be excluded before treatment begins.

Avoid Use

Liver disease, breast, uterine or genital cancer.

Known Side Effects

Gastrointestinal upset, reactions in skin, mucous membranes and central nervous system, tenderness in breasts, abnormal milk production, gain in weight.
