Aerolin Autohaler
What is it?
A preparation of a selective Bz-agonist (beta receptor stimulant) salbutamol which causes dilation or expansion of air passages in the lungs. Salbutamol (as sulphate) is present as 100µg per dose.
Medical Uses
Prevention (prophylaxis) and treatment of bronchial asthma and breathing difficulties associated with bronchitis.
Dosage
Aerolin is administered by means of a breath-activated aerosol inhalant which delivers a metered dose. Dose is 1 to 2 puffs 3 to 4 times daily for prevention. Half dose for children.
Special Care
Thyroid gland disorders (hyperthyroidism) hypertension, heart disorders, e. g. myocardial insufficiency, during pregnancy and breast- feeding. May cause thyrotoxicosis with associated symptoms.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Corticosteroids -increased risk of hypokalaemia with high doses.
Known Side Effects
Headache, nervousness andirritability, fine tremor (in hands), va sodilation in peripheral areas of body.
