Almogran

What is it?

A 5HTi agonist containing12.5mg of almotriptan in each whitetablet. The film-coated tablets areeach marked with an A.

Medical Uses

Treatment of acute headache during migraine attack, whether aura present or not.

Dosage

Adults: 1 tablet as attack begins; repeat if necessary after 2 or more hours. Maximum dose is 2 tablets in 24 hours.

Special Care

Elderly persons, pregnancy, breastfeeding, mild or more serious liver impairment, severe kidney disease, known sensitivity to sulfonamides. In high-risk patients, existence of other neurological disorders and cardiovascular disease should be investigated.

Avoid Use

Children, hemiplegic, opthalmoplegic or basilar migraine, various forms of ischaemic heart disease, previous transient ischaemic attack or cerebrovascular event, peripheral circulatory disease, serious liver disease.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Other 5HTi agonists, ergot derivatives, ergot- amine, lithium.

Known Side Effects

Gastrointestinal upset, dizziness, malaise, sleepiness. Any adverse side effects must be reported to the CSM.
