Alphosyl HC
What is it?
A preparation of coal tar and hydrocortisone used in the treatment of psoriasis. It contains 5% coal tar extract, 0.5% hydrocortisone and 2% allantoin in a water-based cream. .
Medical Uses
Psoriasis.
Dosage
Adults and children over 5 years, apply to affected skin twice each day.
Special Care
Use should be limited to 5 days with children or on face. If treatment in adults is prolonged, withdrawal should be gradual.
Avoid Use
Extensive or prolonged use in pregnant women, acne or untreated fungal and bacterial infections, tuberculosis, viral skin disease, leg ulcers, ringworm. Children under 5 years.
Known Side Effects
Thinning of skin, suppression of adrenal glands, fluid retention.
