Amil-Co

What is it?

A potent loop diuretic preparation with a rapid, short-acting mode of operation. A potassium-sparing, thiazide diuretic containing 5mg of hydrochloride and 50mg of hydrochlorothiazide (5/50 co-amilozide) in each pale orange coloured tablet. The tablets are scored and marked with logo and name.

Medical Uses

Congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, cirrhosis of the liver with ascites (abnormal fluid collection in abdominal cavity).

Dosage

Adults; 1 to 2 tablets each day, either as single or divided dose. May be increased to a maximum of 4 tablets daily, in divided doses.

Special Care

Liver or kidney disease, gout, acidosis or diabetes.

Avoid Use

Children, pregnancy, breast feeding; patients with severe or progressive kidney disease or elevated blood potassium levels.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Other potassium- sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, ACE inhibitors, lithium, antihypertensives, digitalis.
