Asasantin Retard

What is it?

A compound, antiplatelet preparation comprising 200mg of dipyridqmole in modified release formulation and 25mg of aspirin in each cream/red capsule. Each marked with manufacturer's symbol and 01A.

Medical Uses

Prevention of transient ischae mic attacks and secondary strokes.

Dosage

Adults; 1 tablet each day with a meal.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney or liver disease, heart or heart valve disease, bleeding or coagulation disorders, allergy to aspirin, NSAIDs or similar drugs, gastrointestinal disorders, glucose-6-PD deficiency, myasthenia gravis, polyps in nose, allergic rhinitis.

Avoid Use

Children, bleeding disorders, last three months of pregnancy, active stomach ulcer.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

NSAIDs, spironolactone, corticosteroids, antihypertensives, anticoagulants taken by mouth, methotrexate, adenosine, hypoglycaemics, cholinesterase inhibitors, adenosine.

Known Side Effects

Gastrointestinal upset, muscle pains, headache, allergic reactions, flushing, raised heart beat, low blood pressure.
