Asmasal Clickhaler

What is it?

A selective 132 agonist available as a powder containing 95µg of salbutamol sulphate per breath- activated dose, delivered by inhaler.

Medical Uses

Asthma attack and prevention of exercise-induced asthma, bronchospasm, reversible airways obstruction.

Dosage

Adults; acute attack: 1 or 2 puffs as needed; prevention: 2 puffs 15 to 10 minutes before exercise or exposure to known allergen. Maximum of 2 puffs 4 times each day. Children; acute attack: 1 puff as needed or more if necessary. Prevention: 1 puff 15 to 10 minutes before exercise or exposure to known allergen. Maximum 1 puff 4 times each day.

Special Care

Pregnancy, diabetes, overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, serious heart or circulatory disease, phaeochromocytoma.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Other steroids, sympathomimetics, cardiac glycosides, diuretics, β-blockers, anaesthetics, xanthines.

Known Side Effects

Muscle cramps, allergic responses, tremor, headache, nervousness, drop in blood potassium levels, palpitations, irritation of throat, dilation of peripheral blood vessels, paradoxical bronchospasm.
