Bactroban

What is it?

A broad-spectrum antibiotic preparation containing 2% mupirocir in the form of an ointment BACTROBAN NASAL is an ointment containing 2% mupirocin in soft white paraffin base. Also, BACTROBAN CREAM containing 2% mupirocin.

Medical Uses

Bacterial skin infections. Nasal ointment, infections of the nost and nostrils caused by staphylococc bacteria. Cream used for secondar infections of wounds and lesions.

Dosage

Ointment, apply to skin 3 times a day for up to 10 days. Nasal ointment apply to the inner surface of nostrils or 3 times daily. Cream, applied as fo ointment.

Special Care

Patients with kidney disorders (ointment), avoid eyes.

Avoid Use

Ointment: infants aged less than 1 year.

Known Side Effects

May sting on application. Cream: nausea, headache, diarrhoea.
