Baratol
What is it?
An antihypertensive, alphaadrenoceptor blocking drug, indoramin hydrochloride, available as blue tablets, 25mg strength, marked MPL020 and 25 which are film-coated and scored.
Medical Uses
Hypertension (high blood pressure).
Dosage
Adults, 25mg twice each day at start increasing by 25mg or 50mg each fortnight. Maximum dose is 200mg per day in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Special Care
Elderly people, patients with liver or kidney disorders, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, history of depression. Patients with incipient heart failure should be treated with digoxin and diuretics. Performance of skilled tasks such as driving maybe impaired.
Avoid Use
Children, cardiac failure.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Alcohol, antihypertensive drugs (dose requires adjustment), MAOIs.
Known Side Effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, depression, dry mouth, blocked nose, weight gain, failure to ejaculate.
