Baxan
What is it?
A cephalosporin antibiotic preparation available as tablets and as powder for reconstitution with water, in 3 strengths. Baxan white capsules contain 500mg cefadroxil (as mono- hydrate) and are marked 7244.BAXAN SUSPENSION contains either 125mg, 250mg or 500mg per 5ml when reconstituted with water, available as powder to make 60ml.
Medical Uses
Various infections of skin, urinary and respiratory tracts, ear and soft tissues.
Dosage
Adults, 5OOmg-lg twice each day (1 to 2 tablets); children under 1 year, 25mg per kg of body weight in divided doses; 1 to 6 years, 250mg twice each day; 6 years and over, 500mg twice each day.
Special Care
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, patients with penicillin allergy or kidney disease.
Known Side Effects
Gastro-intestinal upset, allergic responses.
