Becotide Rotacaps

What is it?

A corticosteroid preparation, beclomethasone diproprionate, available as a dry powder in capsules for inhalation: buff/clear (100µg), brown/ clear (200µg), dark brown/clear (400µg), all marked with name and strength and each is a single dose for use with a Rotwhaler.

Medical Uses

Prevention of bronchial asthma.

Dosage

Adults, 400µg twice each day or 200µg 3 or 4 times each day. Children, 100µg 2 to 4 times each day or 200µg twice each day.

Special Care

Pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with active or quiescent pulmonary tuberculosis, those transferring from systemic steroids. Risk of adrenal gland suppression and other systemic effects with prolonged usage or high doses. Height of children should be monitored if treatment is long-term.

Known Side Effects

Hoarseness, paradoxical bronchospasm, fungal infections of throat and mouth.
