Begrivac
What is it?
A preparation of vaccine (inactivated split virion) against various strains of influenza, available as a suspension in pre-filled syringes. The strains included are A/New Caledonia 20/99 (HiNi) -like strain, A/Moscow/ 10/99(H3NZ)-like strain and B/Hong Kong/330/2001-loke strain with 15µg of each for every 0.5ml suspension.
Medical Uses
Immunisation against influenza.
Dosage
Adults and children over 3 years; 0.5ml given by intra-muscular or deep subcutaneous injection. Infants aged 6 months to 3 years, 0.25ml or 0.5ml6 second dose may be needed after 4 weeks in a child not previously vaccinated or infected.
Special Care
Pregnant women.
Avoid Use
Fever, persons with known al lergy to eggs or chicken protein.
Known Side Effects
Soreness at injection site, headache, malaise, fever. Rarely, neurological effects.
