What is it?

A haemostatic preparation comprising freeze-dried human coagulation factor V111.Available in vials in two 'strengths' with nominal antihaemophiliac activity of 5OOiu and 1,000iu, respectively.

Haemophilia A.

Dosage

Administered under supervision of skilled physician in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and individual factors, incuding severity of bleeding, presence of inhibitors and body weight. Given by slow intravenous infusion or injection

Special Care

Risk assessment required for possible transmission of other dangerous viruses including HIV, hepatitis B and C. Patient requires monitoring for development on inhibitors (antibodies).

Known Side Effects

Allergic reactions (discontinue treatment). Any adverse side effects must be reported to the Committee on the Safety of Medicines.
