Caelyx
What is it?
A potent, cytotoxic drug which is a preparation of 2mg of doxorubicin hydrochloride (in pegylated liposomes) per ml of solution, available in vials.
Medical Uses
Kaposi's sarcoma in AIDS patients; advanced cancer of the ovaries where other chemotherapy has failed.
Dosage
Adults: as directed by specialist in cancer treatment in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
Special Care
Dosages must be carefully worked out.
Avoid Use
Children less than 18 years.
Known Side Effects
Bone marrow suppression, severe nausea, vomiting, hair loss, other toxic effects.
