Canesten
What is it?
An antifungal/antibacterial preparation in the form of a cream, solution or spray (CANESTEN SPRAY), all containing 1% clotrimazole. Solution contains 1% clotrimazole in polyethylene glycol. Also, CANESTEN POWDER containing 1% clotrimazole.
Medical Uses
Fungal and Gram positive bacterial infections of the skin. Cream Also, used for balanitis and vulvitis and treatment of partner to prevent reinfection. Solution Also, used for fungal outer ear infections and inflammation.
Dosage
Cream or solution, skin infections: apply thinly to affected skin twice or three tines each day. Powder: dust on after applying cream, solution or spray and Also, apply to shoes and/ or clothing. Ear infections: apply solution sparingly to affected area, 2 or 3 times each day. All treatments should be continued for two weeks after symptoms have cleared.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Barrier contraceptives, if cream is being used in genital area.

Slight burning or irritation, allergic reactions.
