Carisoma
What is it?
A earbamate preparation which acts as a muscle relaxant and available as white tablets containing 125mg carisoprodol and white tablets marked with P in a hexagon contain 350mg carisoprodol.
Medical Uses
Muscle spasm resulting from bone and muscle disorders.
Dosage
Adults: 350mg, elderly, 125mg, both 3 times each day.
Special Care
History of drug abuse or alcoholism, liver or kidney disease. Long-term treatment should be avoided and the drug withdrawnr gradually.
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breast- feeding, acute intermittent porphyria.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Oral contraceptives, steroids, CNS depressants, tricyclics, griseofulvin, phenothiaziises, rifampicin, phenytoin, anticoagulants.
Known Side Effects
Nausea, constipation, flushes, rash, weariness, drowsiness, headache.
