Caverject Vials

What is it?

A prostaglandin, alprostadil, available as 5, 10, 20 or 40µg powder in a vial with diluent in pre-filled syringes. Also, CAVERJECT DUAL CHAMBER, containing 10 or 20µg of alprostadil as powder with diluent solution in two-chambered cartridges, complete with needles.

Medical Uses

Diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Dosage

Adult men only: administered by injection into the cavernosa in accordance with specialist advice; see data sheet.

Special Care

Patient should seek medical attention if erection lasts for more than 4 hours; lung or heart disease, congestive heart failure, patients suffering from addiction or with psychiatric problems.

Avoid Use

Leukaemia, phimosis, cavernosal fibrosis, sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma, Peyronie's disease (painful erection caused by fibrous induration of corpora cavernosa), penile implant, serious heart disease.

Known Side Effects

Erythema, fibrosis, penile pain, priapism, haematoma and other reactions at site of injection, testicular or perineal pain, deposits in penis.
