Cerumol
What is it?
A cerumenolytic preparation (for softening ear wax) available as a solution containing 2% paradichlorobenzene, 5% chlorbutol and 57.3% arachis oil.
Medical Uses
Softening and removal of hardened ear wax.
Dosage
Apply 5 drops into outer ear and leave for 10 to 30 minutes; ear may then be syringed with warm water to remove wax. Or, apply 5 drops for 3 consecutive days to dissolve wax - syringing may not then be required.
Avoid Use
Perforated ear drum, inflammation/infection of the outer ear, eczema or seborrhoeic dermatitis affecting the ear.
