Clomid

What is it?

An anti-oestrogen hormonal preparation produced in the form of scored, beige coloured tablets, containing 50mg clomiphene citrate, and marked with a circle containing the letter M.

Medical Uses

Treatment of sterility in women due to failure of ovulation.

Dosage

Women, 1 tablet each day for 5 days starting on the fifth day of menstruation, if achievable. Treatment may continue for a maximum of 3 monthly cycles.

Special Care

Ensure patient is not pregnant before and during the course of treatment.

Avoid Use

Women with large ovarian cyst, cancer of the womb, undiagnosed uterine bleeding, liver disease.

Known Side Effects

Hot flushes, thinning of hair, enlargement of ovaries, abdominal discomfort, blurring of vision (withdraw drug).
