Codalax

What is it?

A preparation which combines a stimulant laxative and faecal softener produced in the form of a solution of 2 different strengths. It contains 200mg Poloxamer '188' and 25mg danthron per 5ml. CODALAX FORTE contains 1g Poloxamer '188' and 75mg danthron per 5ml.

Medical Uses

Treatment and prevention of constipation in terminally ill persons (which has been caused by analgesic drugs).

Dosage

Adults, Codalax, 5-10ml taken at night; Codalax Forte, 5ml taken at night.

Special Care

Incontinence.

Avoid Use

Babies in nappies, children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, patients suffering from severe painful conditions of the abdomen or intestinal blockage.

Known Side Effects

Red discoloration of urine and skin with which urine comes into contact.
