Cozaar-Comp
What is it?
An antihypertensive angiotensin II antagonist with thiazide available as losartan potassium (50mg) and hydrochlorothiazide (12.Smg) in oval, yellow, film-coated tablets marked 717.
Medical Uses
Hypertension in ppatients who have been controlled on these 2 drugs given separately.
Dosage
Start with 1 per day; maximum 2 per day if necessary.
Special Care
Systemic lupus erythematdsus (inflammatory disorder), cardiomyopathy, gout, obstructive valvular disease. Blood levels of electrolytes should be monitored
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver or kidney disease, dialysis, anuria (absence of urination), depleted intravascular volume.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
NSAIDs, muscle relaxants, rifampicin, narcotics, barbiturates, fluconazole, ACTH, lithium, adrenaline, corticosteroids, eolestipol, cholestyramine, potassium-sparing diuretics, drugs for diabetes.
Known Side Effects
Angioederna, gastrointestinal upset, dizziness, rash, effects upon standing. In rare cases, hepatitis, angioedema, anaemia, cough, anaphylactic effects. All adverse side effects should be reported to the Committee on the Safety of Medicines (CSM).
