Cromogen Easi-Breathe

What is it?

An anti-inflammatory, non- steroidal, bronchodilator produced as an aerosol for inhalation containing 5mg of sodium cromoglycate per breath-actuated inhaler. Also, CROMOGEN INHALER, available as an aerosol containing 5mg of sodium cromoglycate per metered dose. Also, CROMOGEN STERINEB, a preservative-free solution containing 10mg sodium cromoglycate per ml, available as a single dose for use with nebulizer.

Medical Uses

Asthma and prevention of asthma brought on by exercise.

Dosage

Adults and children, EasiBreathe and Inhaler, 2 puffs 4 times each day in first instance with a maintenance dose of 1 puff 4 times daily. Cromogen Steri-Neb, 20mg with power-operated nebulizer 4 times each day at 3 to 6 hourly intervals. If necessary frequency can be increased to 5 or 6 times each day and, to be effective, therapy must be continuous.

Known Side Effects

Irritation of throat and short-lived cough (due to inhalation of powder). Rarely, short-lived bronchospasm.
