Cutivate
What is it?
A topical, strong steroid preparation available as a cream containing 0.05% fluticasone proprionate. Also, CUTIVATE OINTMENT, containing 0.005% fluticasone proprionate.
Medical Uses
Eczema and dermatitis that responds to treatment with steroids.
Dosage
Adults and children aged over 12 months, apply thinly twice each day to affected skin.
Special Care
Duration of treatment period in children should not exceed 5 days; likewise for treatment of skin on face, psoriasis (monitor), treatment of nappy area in infants. If use has been long-term, treatment should be halted gradually.
Avoid Use
Long-term or over an extensive area during pregnancy, scabies, ringworm or condition of viral or tuberculous origin, untreated bacterial or fungal disease, leg ulcers, acne, pen-oral dermatitis, long-term use as a preventative.
Known Side Effects
Cushingoid changes, effects on adrenal glands, skin changes e. g. appearance of lines, thinning and dilation of blood vessels, unusual hair growth, aggravation of infections. If allergic responses or contact dermatitis occur, use should be stopped.
