Cyclogest

What is it?

A hormonal preparation in the form of suppositories containing either 200mg or 400tug of progesterone.

Medical Uses

Premenstrual syndrome, depression following childbirth (but effectiveness is controversial and subject to debate).

Dosage

Women, 200 or 400mg via rectum or vagina once or twice each day from the twelfth or fourteenth day of monthly cycle until period begins.

Special Care

Use rectally if barrier contraceptives are being used or if patient has thrush infection; use vaginal route in the event of faecal incontinence or colitis. Liver disease.

Avoid Use

Women with abnormal and undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.
