What is it?

A compound antibiotic, (tetracycline) preparation available as blue film-coated tablets, marked LL, and 5422 on the reverse, containing 115.4mg of chlortetracycline hydrochloride, 115.4mg of tetracycline hydrochloride and 69.2mg of demeclocycline hydrochloride.

Medical Uses

Ear, nose acid throat infections; infection of respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary tracts and soft tissues, severe cases of acne vulgaris.

Dosage

Adults, 1 tablet every 12 hours, either 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours afterwards.

Special Care

Elderly patients, those with impaired liver function.

Avoid Use

Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney impairment, SLE.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Penicillins, anticoagulants, oral contraceptives, milk, antacids, mineral supplements.

Known Side Effects

Allergic reactions, gastrointestinal effects, superinfection (i. e. one infection arising during the course of another); withdraw in the case of raised pressure within the skull.
