What is it?

An opiate and analgesic, dihydrocodeine tartrate, available as 40mg white tablets marked with the name.

Medical Uses

Severe pain and chronic severe pain.

Dosage

1 or 2 tablets three times per day with or after food, with 6 tablets as the maximum daily dose.

Special Care

Pregnancy, kidney insufficiency, chronic liver disease, allergies, asthma, decreased activity of the thyroid (hypothyroidism).

Avoid Use

Children, respiratory diseases.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Alcohol, MAOIs, depressants of the central nervous system.

Known Side Effects

Headache, nausea, constipation, vertigo.
