DHC Continus cd
What is it?
A strong analgesic and an opiate, containing dihydrocodeine tartrate, available as white capsule- shaped tablets for sustained (prolonged) release and in strengths of 60, 90 and 120mg, marked with DHC and strength.
Medical Uses
Chronic severe pain e. g. as associated with cancer.
Dosage
60-120mg every 12 hours.
Special Care
Pregnancy, elderly patients, chronic liver disease, kidney impairment, asthma, allergies, under-active thyroid gland, raised pressure within skull.
Avoid Use
Children, depression of respiration, disease causing obstruction of the airways.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Maois, alcohol.
Known Side Effects
Headache; vertigo; nausea; constipation.
