What is it?
A haemostatic preparation for reduction of bleeding, available as ampoules of solution for injection, containing 250mg per ml of ethamsylate and Also, as scored, capsule-shaped white tablets, marked D 500, containing 500mg of ethamsylate.
Medical Uses
Injection, prevention and treatment of periventricular bleeding in low birth weight infants; tablets, menorrhagia (abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding).
Dosage
For the newly born, 12.5mg/kg body weight every 6 hours given intravenously or intramuscularly. For menorrhagia, one 500mg capsule 4 times per day from the start of bleeding to the end of menstruation.

Headache, nausea, rash.
