Dioderm
What is it?
A topical steroid with mild potency available as a cream containing 0.1% hydrocortisone.
Medical Uses
Allergic, itchy and inflammatory skin conditions.
Dosage
To be applied sparingly. Rub in well twice daily.
Special Care
Use on face or for children should be limited to 5 days maximum, infants when nappy area is being treated, psoriasis (monitor). Withdraw gradually after prolonged use.
Avoid Use
Children aged less than 1 year, on acne, leg ulcers, tuberculous, ringworm or viral skin disease, pen-oral dermatitis, untreated infections whether fungal or bacterial. Extensive or prolonged use during pregnancy.
Known Side Effects
Skin atrophy, striae (lines) and telangiectasia (permanent widening of superficial blood vessels), suppression of adrenal glands, Cushingoid changes (as in Cushing's syndrome).
