Dioralyte
What is it?
A preparation providing electrolytes and fluids to replace losses sustained through severe diarrhoea or other conditions. Available as a flavoured powder (plain, blackcurrant or citrus fruits), containing 470mg of sodium chloride (salt), 300mg of potassium chloride, 530mg of sodium acid citrate and 3.56g of glucose. Also, DZORALYTE EFFERVESCENT, available as blackcurrant-flavoured, white effervescent tablets containing 336mg of sodium bicarbonate, 186mg of potassium chloride, 117mg of sodium chloride, 384g of citric acid and 1.62g of glucose. 1 sachet or 2 tablets are reconstituted with 200ml of water.
Medical Uses
Fluid and electrolyte replacement in conditions and infections characterised by watery diarrhoea.
Dosage
Adults, lto 2 sachets or 2 to 4 tablets after each episode of diarrhoea; children, 1 sachet or 2 tablets after each episode of diarrhoea, infants, substitute at 1 to 1/2 times the usual feed volume in 24 hours, or as directed by doctor.
