Diprosone
What is it?
A potent steroid, betamethasone dipropionate, as 0.05% cream and ointment. Also, DIPROSONE LOTION, 0.05% betamethasone dipropionate in alcoholic solution.
Medical Uses
Skin diseases and scalp conditions (lotion) that respond to steroid treatment.
Dosage
Ointment, apply sparingly once or twice per day. ; lotion, apply a few drops twice daily to scalp.
Special Care
Limit use in children or on face to 5 days. Withdraw gradually after prolonged use. Monitor in psoriais patients. Special care in infants, if used in nappy area.
Avoid Use
Leg ulcers, scabies, pen-oral dermatitis, untreated fungal or viral infections, tuberculous, ringworm or viral skin diseases, acne. Lengthy or extensive use in pregnancy.
Known Side Effects
Skin striae (lines) and atrophy (dead skin), telangiectasia (multiple telangiectases, which are collections of distended blood capillaries), Cushingoid changes (see Cushing's syndrome), adrenal gland suppression.
