What is it?

An anticholinergic preparation available as sugar-coated, yellow tablets containing 50mg of orphenadrine hydrochloride, marked I.

Medical Uses

Parkinsonism, including drug- induced symptoms.

Dosage

Adults, 50mg 3 times each day at first, increasing by 50mg every 2 to 3 days. Maintenance dose is usually in the order of 250 to 300mg each day. The maximum daily dose is 400mg, divided.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, elderly patients, difficulty passing urine, heart and circulatory disorders, liver or kidney impairment. Withdraw slowly.

Avoid Use

Enlarged prostate gland, glaucoma, tardive dyskinesia (repetitive muscular movements of the limbs, face or trunk).

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Antihistamines, antidepressants, phenothiazines.

Known Side Effects

Nervousness, raised heartbeat rate, insomnia, euphoria, anticholinergic effects.
