Dovonex

What is it?

An ointment and vitamin D analogue, containing 50µg of calcipotriol per gram, Also, available as DOVONEX CREAM. Also, DOVONEX SCALP SOLUTION, containing 50µg of calcipotriol per ml.

Medical Uses

Cream and ointment, plaque psoriasis; scalp solution, psoriasis of the scalp.

Dosage

Adults, to be applied thickly up to twice each day, for greatest effect, up to a maximum of 100g per week. Children aged 6 to 12 years, apply thickly twice each day to a maximum dose of 50g each week; children aged 12 to 16 years, apply in same way up to a maximum of 75g each week. Scalp solution, adults, apply night and morning; if being used with cream or ointment, total weekly dose should not exceed 5mg of calcipotriol each week.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding. Avoid the face.

Avoid Use

Calcium metabolism disorders.

Known Side Effects

Temporary irritation, dermatitis, itching, skin sensitivity to light, aggravation of psoriasis.
