Dozic

What is it?

An antipsychotic drug available as a liquid preparation in two different strengths containing either 1mg or 2mg of haloperidol per ml.

Medical Uses

Mania, schizophrenia, agitated states, aggression, psychoses, hypo- mania, childhood behavioural disorders.

Dosage

Adults, moderate symptoms, 1.5 to 3mg two to three times each day; severe symptoms or in those who fail to respond, 3 to 5mg two to three times each day. The maximum daily dose is 30mg with the usual maintenance dose being in the order of 5 to 10mg. Children, 0.025 to 0.05mg per kg of body weight each day, divided into two doses and with a daily maximum of 10mg.

Special Care

Pregnancy, liver or kidney failure, epilepsy, Parkinsonism, thyrotoxicosis, severe cardiovascular disease.

Avoid Use

If patient is unconscious.
