Duphaston
What is it?
A hormonal preparation of the female hormone, progestogen, available as scored, white tablets containing 10mg of dydrogesterone, each marked 155 and S.
Medical Uses
Dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation), dysfunctional (abnormal) bleeding, endometriosis, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), as part of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), habitual and threatened abortion, infertility due to inadequate luteal phase of monthly cycle.
Dosage
Adult women, dysmenorrhoea, 1 twice daily from day 5 to 25 of the cycle; dysfunctional bleeding, to halt bleeding, 1 tablet twice each day, taken with an oestrogen, for 5 to 7 days; to prevent bleeding, 1 tablet twice each day with an oestrogen, starting on day11 and continuing to day 25 of the monthly cycle. Endometriosis, 1 tablet 2 or 3 times each day from day 5 to 25 of monthly cycle or continuously; PMS, 1 tablet twice each day from day12 to 26 of monthly cycle; as adjunct to oestrogen in HRT, 1 tablet twice each day for the last 14 days of the month, increasing, if required to 1 tablet twice daily. Infertility, according to manufacturer's specifications and as directed by specialist.
