Ecostatin

What is it?

An antibacterial and imidazole antifungal preparation available as a cream containing 1% econazole ni trate. Also, ECOSTATIN-1, an anti bacterial and antifungal preparation available as a long-acting, vaginal pessary containing 150mg of econazole nitrate. Also, ECOSTATIN PESSARIES, containing 150mg of econazole nitrate, available as a pack of 3 with applicator. Also, ECOSTATIN TWINPACK, comprising 3 pessaries and 15g of cream.

Medical Uses

Cream, skin infections caused by fungi and some Gram positive bacteria, erythrasma (bacterial skin infection), intertrigo, (irritation and infection caused by skin surfaces rubbing together), fungal nappy rash, candidal balanitis. Pessaries, candidiasis of the vulva and vagina.

Dosage

Adults, cream, apply in the morning and at bedtime to affected areas and rub in well. Ecostatin-1, 1 pessary inserted as high as possible into the vagina at bedtime; Ecostatin pessaries, insert 1 pessary as high as possible into the vagina at bedtime and continue for 3 consecutive nights.

Special Care

Cream, avoid contact with eyes. Pessaries, avoid contact with barrier contraceptives; if using applicator during pregnancy, take special care to avoid injury to internal tissues.

Known Side Effects

Transitory, mild irritation/ burning sensation.
