Effercitrate

What is it?

An alkalising agent available as effervescent, white tablets containing 1.5g of potassium citrate and 0.25g of citric acid, for dissolving in water.

Medical Uses

Cystitis.

Dosage

Adults and children over 6 years, 2 tablets in water up to 3 times each day with meals. Children aged 1 to 6 years, I tablet in water up to 3 times each day with meals.

Special Care

Kidney disorders.

Avoid Use

Children under 12 months, obstruction or ulceration of small bowel.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Potassium-sparingdiuretics.

Known Side Effects

Irritation of gastrointestinaltract, raised blood potassium levels, mildly increased urine production.
