Elantan

What is it?

A nitrate available as scored, white tablets in two different strengths containing 20mg or 40mg of isosorbide mononitrate, marked E20 and E40, respectively. Also, ELANTAN LA, available as sustained release capsules in two different strengths; white/brown, containing 25mg of isosorbide mononitrate and pink/brown, containing 50mg.

Medical Uses

Tablets, additional therapy in congestive heart failure which has failed to respond to diuretics or cardiac glycosides; prevention of angina. Capsules, prevention of angina.

Dosage

Adults, congestive heart failure, 40 to 80mg in two or three divided doses each day, tablets to be taken with after meals. The maximum daily dose is 120mg. Prevention of angina, tablets, 10mg twice each day at first and then a maintenance dose of 40 to 80mg in two or three divided doses each day, to be taken after meals; capsules, 25 to 100mg each day, taken in the morning.

Avoid Use

Children.
