Entocort CR

What is it?

A steroid preparation, available as controlled release, enteric- coated, pink/greycapsules containing 3mg of budesonide, each marked with strength and CIR.

Medical Uses

Mild to moderate Crohn's disease.

Dosage

Adults, 3 capsules once each day before breakfast for up to eight weeks. Also, ENTOCORT ENEMA containing 0.02mg of budesonide per ml.

Medical Uses

Ulcerative colitis with rectal and recto-sigmoid disease.

Dosage

Adults, 1 inserted into the rectum at night for four weeks.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, osteoporosis, peptic ulcer, hypertension, diabetes, glaucoma, tuberculosis, cataracts, chicken pox, measles, liver disorders. Withdraw gradually.

Avoid Use

Children, infections, whetherviral, fungal or bacterial in nature.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Cholestyramine (anti-diarrhoeal).

Known Side Effects

Tremor, cramps, palpitations, blurred vision, steroid effects, acid indigestion, nervousness, skin reactions, menstrual problems.
