What is it?

An anti-oestrogen preparation which prevents cancer cell growth, available as white tablets each marked TO 60, containing 60mg of toremifene.

Medical Uses

Breast cancer after the menopause which has spread and which is oestrogen-receptor dependent.

Dosage

Women, 1 tablet each day.

Special Care

Severe angina, bone metastases, liver impairment, seriously altered performance status, heart insufficiency (uncompensated), diabetes, severe thromboembolic disease.

Avoid Use

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, endometrial hyperplasia (overgrowth of cells of endometrium, the lining of the womb), serious liver failure

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Phenytoin, thiazides, carbamazepine, anticoagulants, erythromycin, troleandomycin, ketoconazole, phenobarbitone.

Known Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, sweating, dizziness, oedema, pain, leucorrhoea, hot flushes.
