Ferfolic SV

What is it?

A combined mineral and vitamin preparation with a haematinic (iron) and vitamin B component. It is produced in the form of pink, sugarcoated tablets containing 4mg folic acid, 250mg ferrous gluconate and 10mg ascorbic acid.

Medical Uses

Anaemias and conditions characterized by deficiency of iron and folic acid. Also, used as a preventative to reduce the risk of neural tube defects in a foetus, when a mother known to be at risk is planning a pregnancy.

Dosage

Adults, for anaemia and deficiency, 1 tablet 3 times each day. Prevention of neural tube defects, 1 tablet each day when conception is planned and continuing during first 3 months of pregnancy.

Avoid Use

Children, patients with megaloblastic anaemia.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Tetracycline antibiotics.
