Fersamal
What is it?
A haematinic preparation available as brown tablets, marked FERSAMAL, containing 210mg of ferrous sulphate equal to 65mg of iron). Also, FERSAMAL SYRUP containing 140mg of ferrous sulphate (equal to 45mg of iron) per 5ml of liquid.
Medical Uses
Iron deficiencies.
Dosage
Adults, 1 tablet 3 times each day or 10ml of syrup twice daily; children, premature babies, 0.6ml per kg of body weight each day; all others, 2.5 to 5ml twice each day.
Special Care
Previous stomach ulcer.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Antacids, penicillamine, tetracyclines.
