Filair

What is it?

An anti-inflammatory eorticosteroid preparation containing 50 or 100µg beclomethasone dipropionate delivered by metered dose aerosol. Also, FILAIR FORTE delivering 250µg per metered dose.

Medical Uses

Reversible obstructive airways disease (chronic asthma).

Dosage

Adults, Filair, 100µg, 3 or 4 times each day or 200µg twice each day. In extremely severe conditions 600800µg in divided doses, with a maximum of 1µg, may be taken. Filair Forte, 500µg twice each day or 250µg 4 times each day; maximum dose is 500µg 4 times each day. Children, Filair only, 50-100µg 2, 3 or 4 times each day.

Special Care

Pregnancy, history of, or active pulmonary tuberculosis, those transferring from other (systemic) steroid drugs.

Known Side Effects

Hoarse voice, candidiasis (yeast-like fungal infection) of throat and mouth.
