Flamazine
What is it?
An antibacterial cream con taining 1% silver sulphadiazine.
Medical Uses
Burns, skin wounds, pressure sores, infected leg ulcers, areas where skin has been removed for grafting.
Dosage
Adults and children, except babies, apply a layer of cream 3-5mm thick beneath dressing which should be changed daily for burns and 3 times each week for ulcers.
Special Care
Patients with liver or kidney disorders, those with deficiency of glucose-6-PD.
Avoid Use
Pregnancy, newborn babies and infants.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Wound-cleaning agents with enzyme action, phenytoin, hypoglycaemic (diabetic) drugs taken by mouth and sulfonamides.
