Flebogamma
What is it?
A preparation of human normal immunoglobulin available as a 5% solution in vials for injection. Usedfor: immunoglobulin replacement therapy in patients who are immunodeficient either as a primary or sec- ondary state, including various inherited disrders (hypogammaglobulinaemia, agammaglobulinaemia). Also, thrombocytopenia purpera (bleeding disorder) in patients at risk of haemorrhage or who are undergoing surgery, to boost blood platelet count. Also, to help prevent recurrent infections in children affected by HIV
Dosage
Adults and children, for immunodeficiency, 200mg per kg of body weight given once monthly, increasing, if necessary to 400mg, all by intravenous infusion. Thrombocytopaenia purpera, 400mg per kg of body weight by intravenous infusion for 5 days and then the same dose, as needed, for maintenance.
Special Care
Patient must be carefully monitored for signs of anaphylaxis while treatment is being given.
Avoid Use
Patients with selective immunoglobulin A deficiencies.

Live vaccines.
Known Side Effects
Allergic responses, chills, headaches, joint and back pains, nausea, headache, vomiting, fever. rarely, low blood pressure.
